And we're off.....

This is a pic of Babe jumping off the boat in Maui of summer 2005. Peter, Babe and I are heading to Hawaii tomorrow for a few days of much needed R&R. I can't say the thought of a mushy, winter- white body in a swimsuit is really all that appealing right now, but I also don't really care. We're heading to Hawaii and that's all that's important!

Worth thinking about

"Your goals, minus your doubts, equal your reality" by Ralph Marston. I read this quote on another blog and I really liked it. I would say doubts AND fears, though. Another quote that I always remember is "Face your doubts, master your fears." I think both of these quotes have essentially the same message.

I find those to be especially pertinent since it is still the beginning of the year. As I mentioned in my 100 things post, I make essentially the same New Years Resolutions every year. Why? Because I never accomplish them. So why don't I just stop making New Year's Resolutions at all? I don't know. Deep down, I appreciate the idea of starting afresh and having goals. Even deeper down, I guess there is always that small glimmer of hope that I might actually reach one of those goals.

Thinking about these quotes, I'm realizing that perhaps I am the one standing in the way of myself. My reality is what I make it. What am I scared of? Why am I doubting myself? Why am I not allowing myself to change my reality? I guess I have a new goal now to add to the list: Allow myself to reach my goals. I'll let you know how it works.

I'm an addict

Okay...I am admittedly a TV freak. I have my shows that I have to watch every week. Before the days of Tivo and DVR I might even have been known to rearrange my plans if it conflicted with a certain TV show. Back in the day, some favorites were Friends, Felicity, My So Called Life and Party of Five. I'm not saying this is a healthy habit by any means, but I don't see it changing any time soon.

With the addition of DVR, I now watch so much more TV than ever before. I can't figure out if I'm maximizing my TV time because now I don't have to watch commercials and I can choose when I watch shows, or if I am just wasting even more time. Probably the latter.

Anyways...at the risk of looking (and being) completely pathetic, here is what is programmed on our DVR. Some of it is purely Peter, but most of it I watch. Let me know if I'm missing out on any unforgettable shows and I will add them on.

Weekly Programmed Time Suckage:
24, Family Guy, Friday Night Lights, Grey's, Heroes, The Hills, Lost, Men in Trees, Oprah, Roswell, Ellen, The Office, Simpson's and random things like Killer Squid, LDS Conference, and Under the Tuscan Sun.

Bullets and a condom

Excuse the crude title. You are probably wondering what these two things have in common. Let me tell you. Those are the things that our new neighbor, Rob, found on the porch of Patrick's house after they had moved out and left the place "spotless". This is on the PORCH!! Inside, he was greeted by piles and piles of junk. i.e. empty pizza boxes, old food, syringes, trash, and other drug paraphanelia to name a few. Are you kidding me that this house wasn't condemned by the freaking health department? Rob took us on a tour yesterday (all of the junk has been thrown out), and I felt like I could have been on an episode of one of my favorite shows....COPS! Imagine a house that has NEVER been cleaned, yet has the grossest, messiest people and all of their trashy friends living there for years. I guess we are lucky that the place never burned down from a kitchen meth fire or something. Luckily, it's going to be knocked down soon and a new house will be standing in it's place in a few short months. And all I will have left are all of those wonderful memories...in other words, I can't wait!
